The Honda CBR500R in white is the middleweight Bali often lacks: more than a 250, yet without the weight and the fuel bill of a 600cc supersport. The 471cc parallel-twin makes 47 HP, runs a six-speed gearbox and stops with ABS. What sets this one apart from our red CBR500R is the white livery with red accents and an aftermarket slip-on exhaust: a deeper note than stock, without being loud at idle.
The twin pulls cleanly from low revs, so Canggu and Seminyak traffic is no trouble, and above six thousand rpm the character turns properly sporty. The riding position is sport but not extreme: two or three hours in the saddle pass without fatigue. On the bypass it cruises at 100 km/h with plenty in hand. The brakes are predictable and the ABS intervenes gently.
This is a bike for riders with genuine manual experience who want a real sportbike for a week along the Uluwatu and Canggu coast or through the mountain switchbacks. For a first sportbike in Bali, the CBR250RR or the Ninja 250 are the better choice. Two-up works only for short rides: the pillion seat is small and high — for a full day with a passenger take the CB500X.
