The Yamaha XSR 155 Custom Red is a neo-retro custom built in our own workshop on the XSR 155 base: a bright-red tank on a blacked-out frame, a round LED headlight, bar-end mirrors, a shortened tail with the stock fender gone and a bespoke stitched seat. The exhaust has been swapped for a short XSR155 slip-on — a low, full note that stays civil at idle. Upside-down forks and dual-purpose block-pattern tyres keep it planted on tarmac and confident on the gravel tracks down to the beaches.
The engine is a 155cc single with VVA: smooth pull from low revs, modest fuel use, six-speed gearbox. The bike is light and narrow — in the dense traffic of Canggu and Seminyak it slips through where a 250 no longer can. The riding position is upright, so long stretches do not wear out your back.
It is the pick for riders who want to stand out on the road and in photos: rice-terrace shoots, Ubud cafés, Uluwatu sunsets — the red XSR works against any backdrop. It suits a beginner on a manual too: the engine is forgiving and the weight is low. Two-up, keep it to short city runs.
